Qualified Energy Conservation Bonds may be issued by certain New York State Cities, Towns, and Counties based upon Federal bond allocations. NYSERDA, as the designated State administrator, is monitoring the use of those bond allocations. Information and guidelines are available.

A Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) is a policy that seeks to increase the proportion of renewable electricity used by retail customers. New York State’s goal is to reach 25% by 2013.

The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, or RGGI, is an agreement among ten Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic States (Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.
