NYSERDA Announces Workshop for School and Public Librarians
Are you interested in teaching children and families to be energy smart? If so, don’t miss a free-of-charge professional development workshop for librarians offered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Energy Smart Students Program. This interactive, hands-on workshop will take place on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Greenburgh Public Library 300 Tarrytown Road, Elmsford, NY. Increase your energy IQ and learn how to become a mentor for your school or community. Reserve your spot today!
The workshop is targeted to school and public librarians who work with Grade K-6 students. It includes an overview of energy basics—energy forms and sources, energy efficiency, and renewable energy—and techniques for integrating this content into educational programs for young people. Each attendee will receive FREE curriculum, including lesson plans correlated to the New York State Learning Standards, student worksheets, colorful posters, and annotated bibliography materials.
This is one of a series of free professional development programs for educators provided by NYSERDA’s Energy Smart Students Program. NYSERDA, a public benefit corporation, uses innovation and technology to solve some of New York's most difficult energy and environmental problems in ways that improve the State's economy. To learn more or to find a complete schedule of energy workshops for educators in your area, visit www.GetEnergySmart.org, call 1-877-NY-SMART (Option 6), or e-mail info@nyess.org.
